Midland Berryhill Post 165 Baseball
Ki Ki Cuyler Award
Many of you may wonder where the Ki Ki Cuyler Award originated. Hazen Shirley Cuyler, better known as Ki Ki Cuyler, was born in Harrisville, Michigan in 1898. An outstanding outfield in his day, Ki Ki spent 15 years in the National league compiling a .321 lifetime batting average. Ki Ki passed away in 1950 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Ki Ki was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1968. This award was created in 1929 to honor Ki Ki for his professional baseball career as an outstanding outfielder and hitter in the National League. Each year the Department of Michigan recognizes the player considered most valuable to his team in the Michigan American Legion State Tournament.
